Gerriatric 1983 944

Perhaps I should start a new thread, let me know if this is off base, thanks.

For years I had a way to recharge my A/C with R134a. And it worked well!
See the attached picture of the hose I left attached to the problematic fitting
on the compressor of this good old 944.

Then, one year, I could no longer recharge.

Well my special hose had failed, and I looked for a NEW way to solve the low side fitting problem. I found this thread, and ordered the part! But dog gone it, it
just WILL NOT SCREW ONTO MY COMPRESSOR.

Anyone have suggestions?

Did you have to GRIND SOME OF THE right angle adapter off?

Is there some LOWER PROFILE right angle adapter to buy?

I am hoping for one more recharge to work on Gerry before I die.

I am considering asking an A/C shop to rebuild my hose, think that would be legal?

Thanks all for your time!

(and I know to remove the shrader valve before using the right angle)
