We drove up to Enid yesterday to have an early Christmas. Most of the relatives are planning to be with the other side of the families so one week earlier was a good compromise. We usually go up I-35 to Highway 412 into Enid. As one exits I-35 onto 412, there is a sea of windmills. I would guess at least 200 or so. The wind was blowing a little and most all of them were running. Only a couple were out of service. I have never seem them all running. On the way home it was the reverse, most were stopped, and only a handful were spinning.
They have one working yard with a large pile of the towers and blades to be put up as yet. Lots of wheat farmers can retire and just grow hay, run cattle, and live off the rental income of the windmills.
I drove the 911 on that trip. It is the most economical vehicle of the three in cost per mile and gas usage. The speed limit on I-35 is 75, and most traffic is rolling along at 85, even the truckers. The trusty El Camino starts to struggle at 80 with the aerodynamics and gearing. The Macan and the 911 are completely happy and comfortable at those speeds.
