I saw one on Amazon that just uses a standard 9 volt battery we all use. It plugs into the OBD2 port on the car, and keeps all the programming for windows, radios presets, and the computer settings. You just change the battery, and then remove it. The ad claimed it was more reliable than the cigarette lighter port for maintaining the cars settings.

Years ago when my wife had a Mercedes the battery died. I replaced it and then we had to go to the dealer and get raped for four hundred bucks for them to plug it into the computer and reset everything. That was one reason we dumped Mercedes, that dealership.
