I am planning to retrofit a factory 964 windshield and a factory 964 windshield seal to both my 1987 and 1989 911s.
Unfortunately, per the attached Technical Bulletin, my 1989 missed coming with the 964 windshield (and seal) originally by ~75 VINs...
There are four different 964 windshield part numbers...
964 541 011 00
Windscreen Tinted
964 541 011 09
Windscreen Tinted
964 541 011 01
Windscreen Tinted, Green Top Tint
964 541 011 10
Windscreen Tinted, Green Top Tint
Apart from the last two having green top tint, does anyone know the differences between the four part numbers?
I will be using factory rubber seal:
964 541 225 00.
Next question, does anyone know if the rear view mirror mount / plinth is the same, or if I'll need a 964 rear view mirror too?
Final question (for now) does anyone have recommendations for local shops in SoCal or SF Bay Area that have successfully installed the 964 windshield retrofit into a G body? My interior / upholstery guy in San Diego has done it and I will go with him for the installs, but I'd like to have a list of any shops with salient experience handy for reference purposes.
There are a few threads here regarding 964 windshield retrofits, but nothing definitive. Some say it works, others have had issues, etc. I'll report back after my own installs and, hopefully, this thread can be used as a more definitive reference, including part numbers, etc.
