Help w/ which 964 windshield (there are 4 PNs) to install into a late G body?
Greetings all,
I am planning to retrofit a factory 964 windshield and a factory 964 windshield seal to both my 1987 and 1989 911s. Unfortunately, per the attached Technical Bulletin, my 1989 missed coming with the 964 windshield (and seal) originally by ~75 VINs...  There are four different 964 windshield part numbers...  964 541 011 00 Windscreen Tinted 964 541 011 09 Windscreen Tinted 964 541 011 01 Windscreen Tinted, Green Top Tint 964 541 011 10 Windscreen Tinted, Green Top Tint Apart from the last two having green top tint, does anyone know the differences between the four part numbers? I will be using factory rubber seal: 964 541 225 00. Next question, does anyone know if the rear view mirror mount / plinth is the same, or if I'll need a 964 rear view mirror too? Final question (for now) does anyone have recommendations for local shops in SoCal or SF Bay Area that have successfully installed the 964 windshield retrofit into a G body? My interior / upholstery guy in San Diego has done it and I will go with him for the installs, but I'd like to have a list of any shops with salient experience handy for reference purposes. There are a few threads here regarding 964 windshield retrofits, but nothing definitive. Some say it works, others have had issues, etc. I'll report back after my own installs and, hopefully, this thread can be used as a more definitive reference, including part numbers, etc. The patients...

The rearview mirror "puck" that the mirror body mounts to is just glued onto the windshield. New windshields do not come with them mounted. You can just reuse your old one and glue it onto the new windshield. The installer should do this for you

I have a 964 screen and seal in my SC and I would recommend looking for the aerial booster that plugs into the screen to enable you to take advantage of the built in aerial. You can then delete the wing mounted one

Checking in. How did this turn out? What windshield/seal part numbers were used and did they fit? I have an '81 SC with a cracked windshield so I am exploring going this route. Any info/help would be appreciated.

That.......looks awesome. Nice work. I wasn't tuned in on the quarter glass having a 993 seal option, either. I will check that out.

much better! it always bothered me how even with a factory seal, the corners get sucked in

Does anyone know if the 964 windshield seal can be used with a stock 1988 911 windshield? Object is to eliminate the shrinking plastic trim pieces. What about the rear 964 seal, can it be used with a stock 911 rear glass also?
