I sold my dad's Rolex and all of his other nice dress watches when I was closing his estate. I wear a cheap Casio Tough Solar Titanium watch that is pretty much indestructible. And even if it was ruined somehow, it is cheap to replace. It is just an appliance, like my microwave.
I can really appreciate a quality watch, but I am way too cheap to spend the huge money on one that just looks totally out of place when I wear a t-shirt and shorts most of the summer. I get "dressed up" only two or three times per year, and never again will wear a tie.
I did keep my dad's Accutron Astronaut. I had it cleaned, and a new battery put in. But the batteries don't last long, and I never even wore it before the battery died. Now it sits in my safe with no battery installed.
I have an iPhone Model 11 pro as a great appliance and it is my second brain. I know I lived most of my life without a cell phone, but I can't imagine life now without a smart phone. I understand nice appliances. I just don't want one for my personal car. My wife's Macan has bells and whistles and do-dads and is a wonderful vehicle that she loves. My old El Camino recently turned 380,000 miles, and I will turn 190,000 on the 911 before the end of June.
The 911 has a Blaupunkt Bremen and the Elky has a Retro sound head unit that look right in the dash, yet both have Bluetooth, and plays USB drive based music, or streams from my cell phone.
I am a computer nerd. I love gadgets, I just love my old cars that draw attention and compliments from strangers at almost every stop.
