Yeah take a break and come back to it. Try to get someone to hold the punch (a diameter that can make it through the hole) and an extension of some sort. I tried it without and the angle i was hitting wasn’t working. The a pillar kept getting in my way and didn’t want to damage it. The extension got me above the door cards and gave me all the room to give it a good hit. You need to get some good straight down whacks with the mallet to get it through.
