Yes the slider tab veers off the side when the cursor gets real close and moves back to where it was when the cursor is moved away. Makes it impossible to 'grab' onto it.
I looked in the settings for the mouse and the only settings were speed, reverse scrolling, and controlled scrolling. I switched controlled scrolling to 'on' and it didn't affect it.

Yeah, the scroll bar disappearing isn't going to have anything to do with the mouse or mouse settings. That's going to be a setting either in the application or OS.
The only mouse setting that you could possible change would be the speed of the scroll wheel.
I did a quick google search. Seems you're SOL.
They want you to use 2 fingers on the touchpad.
