I have a 3.4 turbo (based on a 3.2) with the Electromotive tec3r EMS installed about 25 years ago. Originally the temp sensor was linked to the oil return line from the motor as it took a long time for the oil to warm up which resulted lousy AFR readings and bucking for about 20 minutes. I then bought the traditional head temp sensor and installed it by the cylinder 3 head. It would work for a while giving me reasonable idle but would crap out for some reason…..I replaced it a number of times over about 10 years or so.
I then experimented by moving the sensor to the top of cylinder #4 which produced better results and finally moved it to the tin hot air pickup for the left heat exchanger. That simple change and recalibrating the fuel enrichment in the software did the trick for me.
Hope this helps.
Cheers,
Johan
