This has been the case for years with anything made in China. It’s why we can’t use Chinese components for defense applications.

Most ECUs record telemetry data that can be used to determine speed and control application prior to a crash. It was a topic of debate even back in 2003 when I was a diesel mechanic, our diagnostic computers could pull the data but it required a warrant.
