you get the rail out by cranking up your window slowly and you push the rail up a bit at a time with the glass. the first few inches to get it started is a beotch because those crazed german engineers installed a thicker block section at the top portion of the rail. so you need to push the rail a tiny bit towards the front of the car with the window rolled all the way down. it will feel un-natural. you need to get this "block" past the door edge. then once the block is out past the door, (it is about a 1.5 inch block section) you can then advance the rail up with the window glass. lift the rail, roll up some window, lift some more rail, so on and so forth. once you peek thru and see that you cleared the door mech STOP! i dont know how hard it is to completely remove the rail and then have to reinstall it. let us not find out! you know that spring in the mechanism. on bell's car, 100% of the spring was on one side of the circlip. i think his is correct, you may want to do the same thing. pm him and have him send you a pic.
