If the engine is still out of the car it's a no brainer, I'd replace the fasteners with wavey washers and normal nuts. Definetly put wavey washers under the barrel nuts.
I don't think the torque on those studs is that critical but not having washers is going to increase the friction a lot thus reducing the tension on the studs. Does the cam turn freely?
