I just tried the following. According to
some tests I found on some old postings
on this site. I disconnects the points wire and ran a wire from - terminal on the coil. Left the + wire on the coil, disconnected the
coil to dist wire from the dist. I held the coil to dist wire 1/8" form the ground. And touched the wire formt the neg to a ground. Got a spark from the neg wire only. I then plugged in the points wire then opened and closed the points with a screwdriver. Points sparked but still no spark from main coil
wire. Both were tested with brand new unused coil.
