it also depends on how much water is on the road. here in seattle when it rains it usually just drizzles or mists, not the heavy downpour you often get in the south. so hydroplaning rarely occurrs around here.
if you run over puddles of standing water, your car will hydroplane regardless of what car/tires you have.
