I am afraid to ask, but....
A couple of days ago I replaced the rear brake caliper hardware and pads...While the car was in the air, I took a look at the tranny and noticed it was caked with a lot of gunk, oil , whatever, at first I thought I should pull it and just replace the seals all the way around as it is a strong unit....But then when I was under the car today (as usual) I noticed that the housing of the tranny that bolts up to the Torque Tube has a chip out of it about the
and 1.5" across and half moon in shape...I guess sometime along the way a rock or something must have hit it hard enough to chip a piece of the casing right off....Question is what now? Do I replace the tranny with a rebuilt unit or do I pretend I did not see it and wait until I have real issues with it...There is a bit of fluid seeping where the chip is....CRIPES!!!!
Any advise?
