Swapping in a G50 is a lot of work, even when you buy the Patrick parts. You'll need to update your pedal cluster and move the motor further back (hurting weight distribution), among other things. Welding will enter into the mix.
A 1995 993 motor still has OBD-I electronics, which makes for an easier swap. 1996-1998 motors are OBD-II, and can't be chipped in the same way. Different vendors will re-flash the read-only memory in the DME, but it's not cheap. 1996-1998 European motors are OBD-I, and are highly desirable as a result.
The most cost-effective path is a 964 motor and a 915.
