If you are pulling the omega spring off the holding pin it sounds like something is installed incorrectly. Depressing the clutch pedal should increase the load on the pin. Yes, I had to fold the seam of my SSI 's for some additional clearance for the spring. Just run some folded over paper between the two surfaces to verify clearance, it will be fairly close.
