Dropping a motor in 5 easy steps

With 2nd gear gone for 2-3 weeks now, and serious withdrawal symptoms setting in from having to drive the Jeep, I decided it was time to get on the ball and at least get the motor out and get the trans prepped for rebuild. We just put this combo in a few months ago so everything came away freely, cleanly, I think I only swore once when oil got everywhere coming from the hardline. Anyway, my version of dropping a motor in 5 easy steps.

Step 1: Select a car. This one looked a bit ratty being cursed and regularly hit, but so much the easier with no rear valence. Mig comes out soon to put a new lens panel in.

What we're working with: Time: 7:19 PM tonight

Step 2: Disconnect everything.

Step 3: I still love the 2 jack method, though I was without my favorite 2x2 board.

Step 4: Lower it carefully down and away. Missed one thing on the way down: trans ground strap, otherwise smooth sailing. Time: 9:19 PM

Step 5: Italian sub with cappicola, salami and ham and doused with Caesar dressing. MMMMMMM

Tune in this weekend for the trans rebuild. that will be scary!!!
