The engine cooling fan drives heat from the heat exchangers into the cabin when the heater/defrost lever with the red handle next to the gear shift is pulled back (which also switches the heater fan on). The heater select knob on the center of the dash routes the heated air to vents for the floor, dash, or windshield. As mentioned previously, the heater fan in the engine bay is really only effective at low engine rpms or idle when the cooling fan is not pushing a lot of air.
