Hello

Also check the lever as they come loose on the shaft. ( early version was just rivetet on later where welded )

Have a look at the pullrod as the end will shuffle thin over the time and will break.
Early cars have the open rubber coupler forwrd in the tunnel replace with never fail proof unit.

Porsche used the same bushings on the trany and the engine linkage transititions. ( Carbs and MFI have them too )

Keep everything slightly greased and you never have trouble
