Sounds like a couple of different things being discussed here. The shifter itself rattling at idle can be cured by the above procedure, but if you get the rattle while taking off in first gear, this is a hallmark of the G50 trans, and
AFAIK, there isn't much you can do for it. Search on 'G50 rattle' for more info,
