Alternator light ON, Ignition OFF
Jumped in the 911 SC to find a brightly lit alternator light BEFORE I put the key in the ignition. The voltage was on the blue wire which comes from the alternator D+ terminal. The factory manual says this is a bad positive diode, which make some sense if the wiring diagram is accurate.
I removed the alternator and found 2.8 ohms between B+ and D+, and 30+kOhms between B+ and ground and D+ and ground.
Does testing resistance between the terminals confirm a bad diode? I do not want to take the alternator apart in any way, since it is still under warranty.
The alternator is a Valeo, internally regulated.
