The light is controlled by the switch at the rear of the engine,
The gauge is controlled by the pressure sender at the front of the motor.
The oil level gauge is controlled by the two wires at the tank - they should connect to the oil level sender.
Pull your gauge and make sure that they did not put the wrong light in the socket. (like an instrument illumination light)
