I installed a Pertronix Ignitor last week. The gap tool was clear plastic and I don't recall reading any exact numerical gap measurement. I would guess that the gap is approximately.040 - .050 in. I do recall reading that the gap didn't have to be exact. Just make sure that the magnet and armature don't caontact each other when the distributor turns. Hope this helps.
