I bought this dam,n thing a while ago, and I lost the gap tool, and the gauge to measure it.

Anyone have the clearence between the magnet and the armeture? Or know where to find it? I asked Automotion-No Response. Pertronix- no website.

It is for a 1.8 ('74)

Check with Wayne or Tom (@pelicanparts.com), or check with Jason Burkett at Paragon Products: paragon@interconnect.com

If Wayne or Tom don't know, Jason almost certainly does.

I installed a Pertronix Ignitor last week. The gap tool was clear plastic and I don't recall reading any exact numerical gap measurement. I would guess that the gap is approximately.040 - .050 in. I do recall reading that the gap didn't have to be exact. Just make sure that the magnet and armature don't caontact each other when the distributor turns. Hope this helps.

I just installed a Pertronix ignitor on my '73 914 2.0L last weekend, WOW!!! what a difference it made. I wish that had done this sooner, I could have saved a lot of money on parts like temp sensors, spark plugs, ignition wires, pressure sensors, etc. BTW Pertronix does have a web site the address is www.pertronix.com I also met their vp of marketing about a month ago at our local Pizza Hut, his name is "Rocky" Sherer and can be reached at (909) 599-5955. (nice guy)

I found the following information at
http://www.pertronix.com/vwtrends2.htm

7.
Using the provided plastic feeler gauge
(.030 inch), set the air gap between the module and magnet sleeve before tightening the small nuts. Rotate the distributor shaft through a few complete revolutions and verify there is an air gap between the module and sleeve.
