Scott - Thanks for the heads up on the tradition! I'm a newcomer to this site, having become aware of it during the recent Portland Parade.
I bought the 71 911T in Germany in 1976. I was stationed there from 73 to 78. Prior to the 71, I had a 68 soft window Targa purchased from a neighbor. It was my learner Porsche, i.e., I learned where rust begins and ends as I watched the car disappear before my very eyes. I saved the wheels and tires and used them for autocrossing. I assume that somewhere along the line I got the wheels mixed up, sold the remains of the 68 to a masochistic refurbisher, and sent the 71 home (1st to SanAntonio, then to Tacoma) with a mixed set of wheels. Somehow I wasn't aware of this until it was pointed out to me abouit three years ago at a PNWR event.

There is a picture on the Pelican 2006 parade photos #97 on page 1
I will try to post it and others.

Thanks very much for the info!

Tom
