Just how well did I measure, cut and weld all those new pinch weld flanges around the perimeter of my '66 912.
So today when I finished welding in the new right side outer longitudinal channel sheetmetal, it was time to test fit the new floorpan pressings. The areas under both rear torsion bar tubes had me quite nervous because the amount of sheetmetal removed and replaced was extensive. So, I hunted down every ViseGrip in my shop and started the awkward process of fitting the floorpans.
Well, to say the least, I'm delighted with the results! Everything clamped in very close to final position with minimal fitting left to do before I weld them in!
I can already picture how the pans are going to look with a nice 1/8" thick coating of
QuietCar sprayed over the inside and a thick splatter coating of Wurth Hi-Build Undercoating over the bottom.
Tonight, I believe there are a couple of well-earned cans of Guinness with my name on them waiting for me downstairs!
