The older 1100S's don't like synthetic until after a hard 18k run-in and the newer R12's seem to run-in around 12k.
We go to BMW's blended synthetic at around 1500 miles or so on the R12S Race bikes, but 1000 race miles is equal to 10,000 street miles in most instances.
