Engine for a Porsche 917K

I'm planning on building a replica Porsche 917. The original race car had a turbo charged 12 cyclinder air cooled. These are long gone away now, although a couple survive in museums and some in original cars.

I don't know much about Porsche's, but I want to keep the 917 somewhat "authentic". I would like to put in the most powerful air-cooled Porsche engine I can. I've heard that the later 911 turbos have water cooled heads - there may be space for small radiators at the very rear of the 917, but the front really only has space for an oil cooler.

I'm not looking to build the engine myself - I want it done professionally. It needs to be able to run on street gas, but I can put race gas in it at the track.

Thoughts / suggestions on where I should start looking? I need names of reputable builders.
