I've got a buddy who recently sold his '99 Vette. Every day I thank God this guy didn't own a 911.
Some of you might remember my story from a while back where we filmed the car doing a 0-175mph run in under 60 seconds. That little episode was done on an empty highway where you could see in both directions for miles. That was the only way I would agree to ride along as the camera man.
I have had the misfortune of being his passenger on 2-lane highways where he regularly drove anywhere from 100-150mph in traffic. Not EVEN my style. We have had a few words on the subject, so I don't ride shotgun very often.
Anyway, this is the same behavior I witnessed with Mr. Fancycar and his red 930 cab. Dude must have been doing way over 100mph when he tried to pass me on the inside. I never saw him coming. That is the real danger in missmatched speeds. Every time my 'vette buddy would bump it up over 100 I'd ask him just what he planned to do when someone, who doesn't see him blasting up on them at 66 ft/sec faster than they are going, decides to step out and pass. He never had a good answer.
I did. There wouldn't be enough of this car left to put in a paper bag. Slow the hell down.
