Went for a ride up to the mountains via the San Joaquin Valley during the recent heat wave. My oil temp gauge was approaching 250F. 1972T targa w/ MFI with stock oil cooler. What is the maximum oil temp this car should run with? Is there any danger of permanent damage running at this temp. and does the elevation change effect this oil temp reading and the ability of the cooler to cool the oil.
