I'm getting ready to go through the maintainance items on my 89 930. While I was putting together my parts list I priced the Porsche recommended Bosch W3DPO's. Needless to say I have never heard of a $12 spark plug.... so I started looking into the alternatives. The parts catalog here lists the BPR6ES as the NGK plug for the 89 911 Turbo, so I did some forum searching to see what I could find. After reading a number of posts I get the impression that the 6 series NGK's could be too hot for most driving conditions. I then checked the NGK site and they recommend the BP8EVX. This brings several questions to mind.
Is the Bosch W3DPO really worth $12 a plug?
Is NGK a good alternative?
Would the BPR6ES cook my pistons at Lime Rock in July?
When will Pelican have the BP8EVX in stock?
Thanks in advance.
