The 2.0L 914/ Bettle conversion I saw had bus halfshalfs and I think a 67? bus tranny. The owner wasn't that knowledgable (and at the time I had no interest in foreign cars) maybe he meant bus C-V joint's, but he did know that the 914 motor kept breaking something untill he used the bus components.
If you need convertion mounts for the motor check out FATS performance, I'm also seen complete kits for sale in the back of the air-cooled Bettle magazines.
