Soon I will be in the market to purchase a 964 or 993. I need info or opinions on the best years for these cars with regard to reliability, ease of tuning, transmission gearing, potention problems and personal preference.

I am aware of the cylinder head sealing issues with the early 90 and 91 964 models. I am also aware of the secondary air injection problems with the 993 models of 96, 97, and 98s.

My intentions down the road is to make this car a 3.8 litre and improve the suspension.

Any input appreciated.
