Dang, lost a long note. Ah well. No, you didn't hurt anything. I use a HUGE 'channel-lock' type plier and a rag to protect the cap. I use the large (about 2' long) plier to wiggle it off. Sometimes takes several minutes.
The rotor and hub are separate parts. You didn't hurt anything. Be sure to torque those mounting bolts carefully and accurately when reinstalling the rotor onto the hub.
