Balance belt should be quite loose when you adjust it. It is quite easy done wrongly as the notches are difficult to see as they are on the inside of the roller and the rear plastic trim. I would double check. The car should still idle well but you will notice a bussing (high pitch harmonic vibration) when you drive the car at higher revs. 1.5K onward. If the car is not idling perfectly try double checking the timing belt timing as well.
