Here a crash, there a crash...WAY too close for comfort
My 911 and I just had the weirdest day.
I go to a car dealer to look for a new family truckster for the wife and kiddies. As I'm lounging against the side of the prospective new kid hauler waiting for the salesman to return, I glance over toward my mint Guards Red C2 and notice a guy unloading a big van about 20 feet south of the drivers door of my car. He's loading up a big, iron-framed, wheeled cart with heavy boxes of some sort.
As I'm watching, he turns back toward the van, letting go of the loaded cart, which begins to roll, slowly gathering speed, directly toward my defenseless P-car. I start to run but I can see I'll never make it in time. This will not be a ding, this will be a new body panel. I scream out and the guy runs and lunges for the cart, dragging it to a stop 6 inches from my car's fender.
On the way back home I'm stopped at a traffic light. For no reason whatsoever I decide to move into an empty spot one lane over while waiting for the light to change. FIVE SECONDS LATER the space where I was is being occupied by a minivan sliding by after being rammed from behind. Turns out the minivan was struck from behind by some moron in a Suburban. The sounds of popping metal and exploding glass fill the air, and the rammed car misses mine by less than a foot as it passes by.
At this point I am freaked and just want to get home, but it begins raining--hard. The wipers are on high speed when, unbelievably, a Honda shoots out from a shopping center parking lot and turns onto the road right in front of me. Full-on ABS saves me from joining the luggage in his trunk, but for the rest of the trip home anytime a car even changes lanes I'm ready to jump out of my skin.
I feel like my car had a bulls eye on it today. Hopefully the marksmanship will continue to be a little off! What a bizarre day....
