Had a few similiar instances happen to me over the weekend-but were cop-related rather than accident-related.
While driving down the freeway, I noticed 2 motorcycle cops merge into traffic from an entrance ramp I had just passed-I wasn't worried, I was right around the speed limit and paying attention. They passed me and contined another mile or so, then took the same exit I was heading for. They were just far enough ahead of me that they had time to quickly pull into their hiding spot right off the exit ramp and pull out the radar guns (just as I passed them..carefully minding the speed limit-but not LOOKING like I was minding the speed limit-you know, just driving casual) to bag speeders

right behind me zooming down the ramp onto the frontage road.
The other instance was at the entrance to a car show (see "Wasted day" topic)-the traffic was so backed up in the left turn lane in one direction, some drivers decided to pull out into the thru-traffic lane, go down a few hundred yards, and make an illegal U-turn accross the median and try to come into the parking lot from the other direction..not a bad idea, for the most part, but it is when several DPS cruisers are sitting there in the shadow of a semi just waiting to pounce on whoever tried it. Good thing I had taken a slightly different route and had come out onto the highway 1/2 a mile futher down, around a corner-they just waved me through
as they busily scribbled tickets for the hapless prey sitting on the shoulder.
You know, if people just paid a little more attention....
