Please help me out.
I'm in the middle of replacing my shifter bushings and can't get the shifter assembly back into the car. The shift rod extends ~1/4 inch too far and won't slip through the bushing. I've read that others have disconnected the shifter rod under the rear cover--but then had trouble reconnecting it.
I'm afraid I'm in a bit over my head--at least with this step--but can see the light at the end of the tunnel on this project.
Here's a shot of what I'm trying to return it to. You'll see a pile of leaves / paper under the shifter--wait until my next post and I'll describe what I found and pulled out of there.
If I disconnect the bolts holding the rod in place, what problems will I face? Is this what I should do? This is what my rear tunnel looks like--G50 transmission:
thanks,
David
