What type of computer chip do you have. My 86 came with some sort of generic custom chip and ran very rich to the point it would sometimes flood the engine and cause it not to start. Purchased SW chip and all those troubles went away. Was tired of changing the oil as the gas would wash down into the case. Not only did the troubles go away but engine really pulls much better through the entire rpm range and it passed emissions. If I take it easy I get 27+ mpg. Just a thought if all else is OK under the hood.
