I also agree with the other posts. I bought a 68 with a blown engine in similar condition to the one you've posted. The body will cost about what I expected, around $3-4 grand.
The engine was a big bummer. The blown piston damaged the engine case beyond repair, both of the heads were shot and the cylinders and pistons needed replacement. Not to mention the clutch, and numerous other engine parts. I will probably have $3 grand into the engine by the time I get it all fixed and runing properly, and that's will all my own labor. I'm just talking parts and machine shop costs. I wouldn't pay more than $750 for one with a blown engine. You just don't know what you're getting until you open up the case!!
Be careful, this could really be expensive, even without the blown engine!! By the way, did you look under the carpets? Lost of interesting things can be going on under there as well!
