Thamlin000;

hi,

I don´t know in what model year the 944 change the offset.
I have an early model like you, my case 84 but the same offset.
I have a 7" overall cookie wheels.
I don´t believe that this " slow " cars need more tire, the handing is incredible good !, I recently red that some cars came with 8" cookie rear wheels.
And you can find in any brand of tires a model for this 7" or 8" at very affordable price.
Also you will notice a change in rpm if you change to 16" wheels
( I have a sim program, you will change rpm,top speed,etc)

But if you want the look of the fuchs wheels, let´s go.
Some months ago I bought on ebay 2 sets of fuchs wheels (flared 914´s), 6 of this are original and the other 2 repros.
530 usd the 8x15 adn 8.5 x 15, 683 usd the 7x16 and 8x16.
And bought new center caps in 50 usd the set.

I install this wheels in my 944 only to see how it looks and looks and fits ok, all of them even the 8.5 in the rear fits ok and don´t exceeds the flare.
This 8.5" are the repro but I don´t recomend you because is difficult to find the correct size and expensive.

Before I bought the wheels I made a research about the offsets or better say backspace (wheels), I ask in the 914 and 911 forum and ask direct to wheel enhancement that makes a very good repros (expensive).
This are the urls:

9 " X 15 RSR WHEELS backspace or offset ?

9 " X 15 RSR WHEELS ?

I believe that you only need to check the 7" wheels but why not go to 8" overall

Hope this help you

Maybe some people will be in disagree with me but if I need to do it again I will buy new repro because you don´t until you have the wheels in hands of a specialist if your wheels are ok or not.
I´m lucky with mines because are in good condition but one time I need to reapir a 6" fuchs and the specialist need to hot the wheel, etc and is difficult and expensive and you will need to re paint the wheel.
I don´t remember the name but in the excellence magazine appears a house that sells new repro in 180 each.

good luck !
regards
