You should budget $2000 for timing belt / WP and incidentals associated with that job. Bad wheel bearing can easily mean bad spindle on these cars, due to the design. If timing belt wasn't changed by 71,000 miles, then I'd scrutinize the rest of the maintenance as well.
Regarding where to look for valuation...Interestingly, its unlikely that anybody in the country watches 85 / 86 values more than the handful of guys you've already engaged here, on Renn and Reutter. Heck, Stan is a master restorer. Danglerb is using the premier 928 race and restore shop in the world to have his cars improved. No place better than here. I'd say on the surface you have it right with your first estimate. I'd lean low-side for several reasons. It would take detail, the story, the closeup photos, the PPI data to get a a better valuation. I'm dubious of car flippers and three of four low resolution glamour shots. Been there, done that. PPI must be done by a 928 specialist in my opinion. The dealerships haven't trained on 928s for over 15 years.
I've seen a 12K mile 85 auto change hands at around $13K in the last 6 months. It languished in the mid to high teens for a year.
I've also bought an 86 that's very nice with 71K from a retired guy for $2K, before the economy tanked, did the maintenance and tires and am still less than 5 for a car similar to the one you show. The point here is the owner may have very little in the car.
Valuing a Honda Accord or a Jeep Wrangler or a Burb, that's one thing. These are insanely complicated and seem particularly subject to being abused and then patch-detailed and flipped. Add the age to it and its clear that a deep dive needs to go on to value them.
