I'd inspect the brushes also - a good elec. motor repair shop should be able to do all this, or provide parts. Be sure to tell them it is a "furrin' metric motor"...
BTW - could you weigh your motors on a postal scale or similar?
- there is a long-running question as to how much wt. is added by the motors
