Rumors have been rife about the iPhone being made available on the Verizon network. There is also known to be a new revision of the iPhone software in testing now -- that doesn't make a new iPhone a certainty, but a strong possibility for 2Q '10.
AT&T shut down sales of iPhones in Manhattan several weeks ago because usage overwhelmed their infrastructure and caused a rash of dropped calls (30%, it's reported). That has to be a violation of the AT&T/Apple SLA.
Jobs won't tolerate that for long, and if AT&T doesn't clean up its act, he may well allow other carriers. I'd be hesitant to invest in ATT, but Verizon may be an okay bet.
