Had the same problem with a 78SC, one of the early ones off the production line. Appears that they were still drawing parts out of the '77 bin, such as, for instance the fuel filter, and or the fuel line fittings to the filter. So, try the OEM '77 fuel filter, worked for me, or possibly you can swap the fittings a suggested above, but I am not that mechanically inclined. Good luck.
