the factory fitted a "saddle" strap that was approx 2" wide and was welded across each hump of the front control arm mounts. This effectively doubled the thickness of the mounting points there.
Since you have some experience with working metal

, another reinforcement that would help is to make a doubler channel that runs all the way across on the inside. Spot welds along its length should help strengthen the original metal below. The upper metal cover then hides this modification
