I am new to Pelican but not new to Porsche, this car I am picking up tomorrow is a 1979 911sc, it was my moms car, she passed away in 1991 (cancer

) and wanted me to keep the car. I was 11 at the time. She purchased the 911 in 1985. I kept it and my dad drove it a little, turned it on weekly but it sat in the garage for a few years.
I tried to drive it when I was 14, didn't know what a clutch was and destroyed our dryer in the garage! It wasn't as easy to drive as my 5hp Briggs & Stratton Go Kart! HA HA, all my savings went down the drain paying for that new damn dryer.
Well, my dad figured I better learn to drive it and so that is what I did. I used some local parking lots and quiet streets and learned to drive this thing by the time I was 15. I received my license at 16, had a truck and drove the 911 a little bit here and there. Saved up enough money to have the engine and transmission rebuilt when I was about 20 but the exterior / interior was starting to go to crap!
Drove the car here and there over the years but it sat more than I drove it for one reason or another. Finally came around and wanted to really get back into it. Making more money and in my mid 20's I took it to a guy / body shop that someone recommended. Told him I wasn't in a rush and for one reason or another it took forever to finish. This is another story within itself!!! The original body shop guy disappeared and so did the car! Finally recovered the car after a couple months with the help of some great local people here in San Diego.
Anyways, the exterior paint is done. I am going to pick it up tomorrow and plan on starting work on the interior right away. Not sure what I want to do yet but know that this forum will help answer all my questions. Not sure if I am going to keep it original (Tan) or go black (leaning towards black) and perhaps convert the interior to an RS looking interior. So many options!
The 1st photo posted below is how I found it. Luckily all of the parts were located with the car. The 2nd photo is another I took during the paint process.
I have to give my dad a lot of credit because I thought about selling the 911 and he really pushed me to keep it, and I did! My mom wrote a note to me before she passed and said she wanted me to enjoy it as much as she had! My dad and grandparents (moms parents) are awesome!
Anyways, I will post photos after I pick up and update the project as I move along. Looking forward to interacting with more people here at Pelican!
