Tim,

Well there just aren't as many GTO cars running with sub 3.0L displacements. Fact is, there just weren't many made and raced. 6C is more of a bump-up class from Group 8 where the cutoff is 2.5L. So any car above that is moved up. I wish there were more group 6C cars. THe cars that are most likely to be in there are the later Porsche's, but since the tire and wheel regulations have changed, many dropped out because the approved tires will not fit. Many of those tires are 26" or taller. In fact, unless something is done, I may not run with VSCDA (except for BRIC) this coming year.

Most of the Porsches run in Grp 8 with 2.2 and 2.4L cars and do quite well, but I didn't want to build just another 2.4L grenade and have to go through those yearly rebuilds like many of them do. There are some exceptions in either group for specific models of cars, but none for mine.

I like running in 6C pretty well, sort of a David and Goliath thing at Elkhart though. THe shorter tracks in the area level the playing field quite a bit.

BUT, even with the long straights at RA, Overall I started 20th out of 26th and finished 15th out of 25. Just a matter of being a relentless late braker to some extent... and getting a really good exit speed. I can't run up to the big guys bumpers in the braking zone otherwise I lose my exit speeds. I found that if I back off a bit in the braking zone (somewhat earlier braking) and give myself some room, I get a better exit speed.
