Hey Wayne - 101 Projects is GREAT, but what about the ENGINE REBUILDING BOOK?
A lot of people have asked me for sneak previews and details about the 911 Engine Rebuild Book. Let me start by saying it's going to be the same caliber as "101 Projects for Your Porsche 911" but with even more detail!
The book will cover:
- Brief history of 911 Motor (not really covering what is already out there in about 5-7 books currently published)
- Dropping your engine (expanding upon the chapter in "101 Projects for Your Porsche 911"
- Engine Teardown. What to do, what to look for, and how to do it.
- Machine Shop and Refurbishment. What happens at the machine shop? What can you do to make it better?
- Reassembly. Step-by-step on the whole process including the 1001 things NOT mentioned in any book or factory manual
- Break-in. You've got your motor assembled, now it's time to get it used to its new environment
- Performance Upgrades. This is the chapter that everyone has been waiting for. Without going overboard (I'm not going to how-to the supercharger, install) here is the chapter that will go over all the 1965-89 motors, and list out what you can do to get more HP, and at what penalty (fuel consumption, engine life, etc.). I'll cover overviews of dual-plug conversions, and other neat things like Eletromotive conversions, etc.
- Appendix A: Parts interchange and reference. Kind of like the reference book with the blue 911 on the cover, but in more depth, and also covering the 1965-73 models.
- Appendix B: Tech Specs. Can't find the little tech specs books anymore (they've been out of print by Porsche for quite some time now). Never fear, all the specs that you need to rebuild your motor will be here...
